The Afghan prayer kilim is as the title suggestes a rug or sometimes a kilim that is used to pray upon. Usually asymetrical in shape with a direction the designs usually feature mirabs or niche motifs that symbolise Islamic architecture. Some nomadic prayer rugs can be quite simple featuring a “Head and shoulders” design or a simple V motif indicating the direction usually crowned by a set of rams horns.
