About David Peez

David Peez’s journey with interiors began long before Republic Home. Living abroad, he developed a love for sourcing and curating unique pieces - what started as a hobby selling tribal rugs grew into a passion for global design and artisan craftsmanship. Returning to New Zealand, David acquired Republic Home in 2011 and has since shaped it into one of the country’s most recognised design destinations.

David’s philosophy is clear: a home should tell a story. He believes great interiors come from thoughtful choices - considering scale, layout, materials, and balance - rather than simply filling a room. His curatorial eye ensures that Republic Home’s collections are never generic, but instead feel personal, distinctive, and enduring.

Over more than a decade of leadership, David has overseen Republic Home’s growth from multiple Auckland showrooms and pop-up locations to its current flagship store in Parnell. Along the way, he has stayed true to the values that underpin the brand: individuality, inspiration, and integrity.
