A beautiful Armenian/Bakhtiari vegetable dyed rug.
Many Armenians settled in the Bakhtiari weaving region of Iran near Isfahan when Shah Abbas ruled the mighty Persian empire from Isfahan, and these rugs are sometimes identified as belonging to the persian Bakhtiari tribes, but given the turkish knot of this piece the weaver was probably of Armenian heritage.
